MUSCULATURE

Worth 5 of the 20 points for Body - (100 Points Total)

The skull portion of the Bengal Standard refers to the bone structure of the head and not soft tissue aspects.

2016 - 2019 CFA Bengal Standard for MUSCULATURE:

Part of the General Description:  The Bengal is a medium to large cat with a sleek, muscular build.

Part of the Body Description:  Long and substantial, muscular, particularly the males.

Breed Council Change Considerations:

NOTE:  Rose highlight indicates a "Strike-through" of wording in the Bengal Breed standard to be removed.  Gold highlight indicates an "underline" which is new wording being proposed to add in to the Bengal Standard.

1.  We have points given to this, should we have a description for musculature rather than just body?   Consider moving this part from the general description into a new description section for "MUSCULATURE"?  or should we include it in the section called "STRUCTURE & SIZE" that may replace "BONING".

Rationale:

A  Judges look at the standard pieces for info and won't easily connect items in the general description to what they are judging on the table.

B.  It has been suggested by judges that our General Description should convey more of a feeling that the Bengal gives us rather than using descriptors.   The best place for descriptors is in the individual sections.

LEAVING OUT OF THE 2019 BALLOT SIMPLY BECAUSE WE NEED TO FOCUS ON MORE IMPORTANT ASPECTS.   THIS ITEM IS REALLY ALREADY COVERED IN "MUSCLED" AND EVEN IF THE GENERAL DESCRIPTION CHANGE IS VOTED IN, THE REFERENCE TO "MUSCULAR" IS STILL WITHIN THE "BODY" (or now called "STRUCTURE & SIZE" if #23 and #24 pass).

2.  Muscularity can be further described by using the words "Densely Muscled"

Rationale:

A.   Muscularity can be either high or low....  there is no adjective for this word such as "Dense" or "Strongly".

Obstacle:

A.  Just saying "muscled" really already covers this.   THe additional word is not necessary for simplicity.
