The profile of the Bengal Cat has a unique shape when compared to most domestic breeds. There is a gentle convex curve to the head profile from the tip of the nose through the nose bridge and then continues through the forehead finishing with a visably curved backskull. A slight concave direction in the nose is allowed. No flat planes are desired.
2016 - 2019 CFA Bengal Standard for Profile:
Gently curved forehead to nose bridge. Nose may have a slight concave curve.
From Head description: Top skull flows back into the neck, with visible back skull. No flat planes.

Breed Council Change Considerations:
NOTE: Rose highlight indicates a "Strike-through" of wording in the Bengal Breed standard to be removed. Gold highlight indicates an "underline" which is new wording being proposed to add in to the Bengal Standard.
1. Combine the proposed in 2018 ballot wording, Mariannes' in 2017 paper and the current standard for profile to create a more complete profile description for the whole head and not just the face portion.
PROFILE: Gently curved forehead to nose bridge. Nose may have a slight concave curve.
PROFILE: The bridge of nose extends above the eyes without strong directional changes. When seen in profile, the line extends from nose tip all the way to back skull in a series of gentle curves.
Rationale:
A. It is a more complete version for the profile as we need to address more than the nose as our currently profile description details.
B. Combines aspects of the proposed 2018 version, our original standard and new wording to try to encompass the head profile line with a complete description from nose tip to back skull.
C. It brings in the back skull visibility into the Profile subsections since this is primarily seen by the profile viewpoint (but can be felt).
Obstacles:
A. We may need time to adjust the wording above - this may be able to be done during the time frame of 8/15/19 - 9/15/19 or it may need to wait until next year when more people can give their written feedback.
C. Current version is probably fine for now until we have time to have additional written aspects considered.
D. Sometimes, simpler is better. This is accomplished by our current version.
PROPOSAL #3 for the proposed 2019 Ballot. Results: 31 Yes, 35 No - 66 Voters needs 40 "yes" votes to pass. Did not pass.
2. Move placement of PROFILE within the description section of the standard as follows:
Description sections to be arranged in the following order:

PROFILE
NOSE
CHIN
MUZZLE
EARS
EYES
PROFILE
RATIONALE: Suggested by “Breeds and Standards” during review process. Addressing all the sections of the head before we describe “PROFILE” is more logical as it contains parts from each of these above sections.
OBSTACLE: Many Council members like the importance profile is given by placing it higher in the list of these head aspects.
PROPOSAL #4 for the proposed 2019 Ballot. Results: 23 Yes, 45 No - 68 Voters needs 41 "yes" votes to pass. Did not pass.
Breed Council Change Considerations for 2019 that did not get on the Ballot:
A. Accept the changes proposed in 2018 (exactly the same as Marianne's 2017 proposed changes):
Proposed:
"Bridge of nose extends above the eyes. Profile line extends from nose bridge to nose tip making a slight, to nearly straight, concave curve with no break.
Rationale:
A. 49% of breed council already agreed to this wording during the 2018 vote.
B. It is also agreed upon already by the other large group of council members.
Obstacles:
A. It doesn't add in the sections within the "HEAD" description that is about "PROFILE"
B. It doesn't address the preference away from strong directional changes as seen in Bengals with heavy brows.
C. It doesn't give a full profile illustration of gentle moving curves.
D. It doesn't cover the "visible back skull" that is currently only under "HEAD" but is best seen in profile view.
CURRENTLY NOT INCLUDED ON THE 2019 BALLOT DUE TO THE "OBSTACLES" THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED.
