+ 4 lines of pattern descriptions
 Note:
1. Pattern is at the bottom yet is very important to us.  It should be higher in standard.
2.  Color is part of Coat -  why are threse separated?
3. Pattern is part of the Coat.   It should probably not be a subsection.
4.  Contrast has to do with Color, Pattern and Clarity and may work better as a subsection to "Coat/Pelt"
5 Moving Eye Color up into "Eyes" may make more sense.
6.  Doesn't address points for clarity even though it's strongly worded in standard as "Must be Extreme".
7.  Too many varying point allocations in head.   I've been asked to make this easier and to round to 10's and 5's so that it's easier to understand and remember by CFA judges.
8. The chin is part of the muzzle.    The muzzle is:
A.  Whisker Pads
B.  Nose
C.  Chin

1. 2018 Proposal.  Agreed upon by 49% of the 2018 Council.
2. Points allotment is now in 5 pt increments
3. Eye color is added into "Eye" within Head Section.
4. 15 points for contrast seems to be too much when clarity is not been allocated points yet is part of the standard.

8.  Pattern is moved to the top of the Pattern section since Rosettes are our #1 defining trait.
OPTION 4
(Not proposed)

HEAD (30 Pts)
  Shape...............5
  Muzzle.............10
  Profile...............5
  Ears....................5
  Eyes....................5

BODY (20 Points)
  Torso:
  Structure &  Size...........................5
  Musculature..5
  Legs/Feet..........5
  Tail........................5

COAT & COLOR    (50 Pts)
  Pattern............10
  Contrast..........10
  Texture.............10
  Color..................10
  Clarity...............10

 Note:

1. Putting all 5 main aspects of Pelt/Coat under one heading (Instead of the 2 sections current in our standard) better illustrates how these Pelt aspects influence each other.  Pattern is not separate from color, Contrast is not separate from Clarity etc.

NOT CURRENTLY PROPOSED.  IT SEEMS THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE COUNCIL WOULD PREFER TO KEEP PATTERN AS IT'S OWN SECTION LIKE THE OCICAT DOES.

(assigned ballot numbers will be added later once a final draft is completed.   This is a large group of individual changes)

OPTION 1
Marianne's 2017

HEAD (30 Pts)
  Skull...................5
  Muzzle.............5
  Profile...............5
  Ears....................5
  Eyes....................5
  Chin....................5

BODY (20 Points)
  Torso:
  Boning...............5
  Musculature..5
  Legs/Feet..........5
  Tail........................5
COAT & COLOR (20 Pts)
  Texture............10
  Coat Color....10
(Eye color 5 pts move to eyes)
PATTERN (30 Pts)
   Contrast......15
   Pattern.........15

Note:
1. Marianne's group suggested standard in 2017.
2. Points allotment is now in 5 pt increments
3. Eye color is added into "Eye" within Head Section.
4. Is chin worth 5 points if only 2.5 go to muzzle and 2.5 go to nose?    (This the where the idea to combine all 3 into Muzzle with 10 points)  Chin would not be more valuable than nose or whisker pads.

1. Adjust points and wording of specific sections to one of the options below (more ideas and feedback encouraged!!):

Rationale:

A.  Judges and CFA are strongly requested us to simplify out standard.   Both in point allocation as well as descriptions.

B.  Changing the word "Coat" to "Pelt" evokes a "Wild Experience" in a domestic cat.   We have been witnessing judges talking about the "Pelt of a Bengal" and the emotion, love and admiration that comes from using this word.

C.  Currently, "Pattern" is not under the heading of "Coat".  Since Pattern is an important aspect of the "Coat", shouldn't this be under one heading especially since they effect each other so much.

D.  The idea of changing "Boning" to "Shape and Size" is so that Bone, Build and Weight/Size can be evaluated together.   (This term came from the CFA Balinese standard)

Obstacles:

A.  Bengals have worked hard to be known as a domestic cat and many people may not want to use a term that connects them with their wild ancestry like "Pelt".   Since CFA is the last large cat association to accept Bengals as domestic cats and since Breeders and Judges in all cat associations use this term for the Bengal already with reverence, it seems appropriate for the standard to match what is being said in the rings by judges, ourselves and our clients.

B.  The word "Pelt" can invoke a negative feeling with a few people because they associate it with skinning of the an animal.   But, it is also true that the word "Coat" is used in this same way and may even more negatively connected to the skinning of animals as it's the most common word used for wearing a covering over our clothes for weather/climate -  protection, warmth & style.

3.  Create a section in the standard for "Structure and Size" vs. "Torso:   Boning"

Rationale:

A.  It would be good to have a place where weight/size of the cat is addressed.

4.  If we agree to use "Structure and Size" in place of "Boning" on the point allocation portion of the standard, then we can include NECK as part of this portion of the point allocation.   The neck is not part of the "Torso" so the Neck doesn't have a section in which to be evaluated.

Rationale:

A.  It would be good to have a place where NECK is evaluated.

B.

5.  If we want to keep "Boning" then we could remove the word "Torso" in order to have a place for the Neck.   Or, we can call it "Torso and Neck".
.

Rationale:

A.  It would be good to have a place where NECK is evaluated.

B.  Keeping the standard close to the current version.
